A Mindful Moment

A Poem by Catalina Leon

All I see is what’s in front of me and therefore I have trouble with my psyche

Like the smallest skyscraper I struggle to see what’s beyond the horizon

I’m missing out on the sun setting a dark crimson

I pile on the years

Along with the  frontiers, souvenirs, tears and fears

They slosh around in my mind

Turning into some optimistic narrative

I soon learn they’re all imperative

They lift me up

And I learn to cup

My muffled platitudes

With more than certitude

And just like that I stand a little taller

See a little clearer

Debate a lot smarter

And become less of a martyr
